Project development, particularly in emerging markets, demands efficiency and creativity, as well as a sensitivity to and understanding of the unique challenges of managing political risk. We work closely with our clients to understand their commercial objectives, and then bring our extensive experience and networks to bear to facilitate timely and cost-effective project execution. Over the years, we have developed a network of lawyers and other service providers in countries around the world that we can turn to for expert guidance on the particular demands of their respective jurisdiction.
We advise governments and project sponsors on the implementation of infrastructure and other development projects, focusing on projects in clean energy, water, transportation, and telecommunications. We work with project sponsors at every step of the project development process, from project feasibility stage through licensing and, then, through the negotiation and documentation of bankable project documents and financing documents. We advise on project engineering, procurement, and construction contracts and design, build, operate contracts, as well as the related performance guarantees and engineering services agreements.
We have assisted numerous governments and international development institutions on regulatory and contractual issues relating to private sector development, public-private partnerships and privatizations, including the divestiture of public enterprises, leasing of public assets, and management and outsourcing contracts, as well as related legislation.
